ibaPDA - PDA2022-06

ibaPDA version v8.0.0

For using ibaPDA v8 you need an ibaPDA license with a valid EUP date of 2022-06-22 or later, but NO extra new “v8 license” on your dongle.

Before updating to ibaPDA v8 please carefully read the New Feature Document for v8 describing new system requirements, dependencies to other iba products and how to migrate from v7 to v8.

What’s new in this version?

Main new features and improvements

With ibaPDA v8 the licensing will be changed to WIBU Codemeter. All newly sold v8 systems will be delivered with WIBU licenses, which can be stored either on a WIBU USB dongle or as a “soft license” in a signed and encrypted license file. Existing MARX dongles will still be supported in v8 and license extensions (e.g. change no. of signals, additional data stores, licensing of existing interfaces) are still possible with the MARX dongle. However, new products of ibaPDA v8.x in the future are only available as license with WIBU.

The general appearance was modernized including a new set of icons which is harmonized between the other iba products.

To ease the handling of layouts especially with server sided layouts in multi user configurations the whole layout management was reworked. Now single layouts can be shared with other users, layouts can be structured and all layout related configuration is done at a central point, the new layout manager.

For better organization and structuring of modules inside interfaces the IO manager offers the possibility to add folders.

A new module overview in the IO manager replaces the Timing tab and summarizes all configured modules with their key properties.

ibaPDA Client and ibaPDA ActiveX control can run as 64bit applications. Memory issues will be mitigated since more memory can be used now.

NMEA 0183 messages can be parsed by the new virtual module NMEA 0183 decoder. Not only marine navigation devices support these communication standard, but also a lot of GPS receivers. Position data can now be easily recorded to display it afterwards with the product ibaAnalyzer-Maps.

The ABB-Xplorer interface was extended to support output direction and to give access to all configured variables, if the engineering project is available.

Output direction is now also supported by the MQTT interface.

Generic TCP as well as Generic UDP interface support the LINT (64bit signed integer) data type.

Group folders can be ignored when generating an address book from a TIA Portal project. This way the address book looks the same as the one loaded directly from S7-1500 controllers.

Time-based data can be written continuously or triggered to an InfluxDB with the new InfluxDB data store.

The MQTT data store was enhanced by several features including combining values over a period of time in one message (“buffering”), support of Google Protocol Buffers (Protobuf) encoding.

Chained certificates are supported by MQTT data store as well as by Kafka data store to trust TLS connections.
